March sees a 19% month-on-month increase and 20.6% year-on-year growth in Uzbekistan’s passenger car sales driven by new and used vehicle demand.

In March 2026, Uzbekistan experienced a robust increase in passenger car sales, with total sales reaching over 78,000 units. This marks a 19% rise compared to February and a 20.6% increase year-on-year, signaling a sustained demand growth in both the primary and secondary vehicle markets.
Market Dynamics and Regional Trends
The total number of all types of vehicles sold across primary and secondary markets in March reached 93,500 units, representing an 11.1% increase from the previous month. Of the passenger cars sold, approximately 31,000 were new vehicles, while 47,500 were used cars.
Regional sales data reveal widespread growth, with most oblasts registering higher volumes than in February. Notable exceptions include Jizzakh, Andijan, and Samarkand, where sales declined. Surxondaryo oblast led growth with a remarkable 51.4% increase, followed by Tashkent region at 46% growth.
The capital city, Tashkent, exhibited the strongest market activity, with passenger car sales soaring 60.5% month-on-month. Additionally, Sirdaryo and Navoiy regions recorded significant positive sales trends.
Primary and Secondary Market Developments
On the primary market, sales of new passenger cars surged 13% from February to nearly 31,000 units. Year-over-year, this sector grew by 37%. Domestic automobile production contributed substantially, with 25,000 locally manufactured vehicles sold, reflecting a 26.5% annual increase.
Importantly, the segment of foreign-made new vehicles nearly doubled compared to the previous month, reaching 5,700 units, underscoring accelerating interest in imported cars. This segment also showed significant year-on-year growth.
In the secondary market, 47,500 used passenger cars were sold, marking a 23% monthly increase and a 12% rise compared with March 2025.
Electric Vehicle Market Expansion
The electric vehicle (EV) segment also gained momentum, with 5,500 units sold in March, representing a 24% year-over-year increase. This growth highlights a rising consumer interest in sustainable mobility solutions within Uzbekistan.
“The steady rise in both new and used vehicle sales illustrates Uzbekistan’s growing automotive market maturity and increasing consumer confidence,” analysts noted.
Overall, the consistent growth across regions and vehicle segments reflects a strengthening automotive market in Uzbekistan, driven by both local manufacturing and imports, as well as emerging demand for electric vehicles.
