The strikes specifically targeted the center of Sumy, hitting multi-story residential buildings, a commercial store, and surrounding roads. One of the missile impacts was recorded in the residential sector of the Kovpakivskyi district, an area typically busy with civilians.
"At the epicenter of the strike was a multi-story building, a store, and a road. There were many people present at the time," said Oleg Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
Among the deceased were a five-year-old girl and her mother, both of whom succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack. Another individual died later in the hospital due to severe wounds. The majority of the wounded sustained serious injuries, prompting urgent medical responses.
