Russian Air Strikes Hit Kramatorsk, Causing Casualties and Infrastructure Damage

On the evening of August 13, Russian Armed Forces launched a series of air strikes targeting the city of Kramatorsk and the nearby urban-type settlement of Belenke in Ukraine's Donetsk region. Preliminary reports indicate the use of aerial bombs, resulting in one fatality and 15 people wounded.

Vadim Filashkin, head of the regional military administration, confirmed that eight strikes were recorded between 20:30 and 20:56 local time. These attacks caused significant damage to residential areas in Kramatorsk, including a multi-story apartment building.

Impact on Civilian Infrastructure and Casualties

According to Filashkin, one of the targeted buildings partially collapsed and caught fire. Visual evidence from the scene shows a portion of a nine-story residential building collapsed with ongoing fires, raising concerns that individuals may still be trapped under the debris.

"In Kramatorsk, hits were recorded in residential areas—damage includes a multi-apartment building; details on other destructions are being clarified," Filashkin stated.

Kramatorsk is situated near the frontline and has been subject to frequent Russian air attacks. Earlier incidents include a July 31 attack where four aerial bombs were dropped on the city, causing one death and injuring 11 people. The resulting fires covered approximately 685 square meters according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.

Just one day prior to that, Russian forces struck the city with five FAB bombs, one of which hit a high-rise residential building that caught fire and injured six people. Furthermore, on the night of July 20, Russian forces shelled residential districts in Kramatorsk six times, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

These repeated attacks highlight ongoing volatility in the Donetsk region and present persistent risks to civilians and urban infrastructure.
