The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced it has struck more than 100 strategic targets within Russian territory and occupied Ukrainian regions, alongside over 21,000 frontline military assets, during a 40-day operation aimed at compelling Russia toward peace, the agency reported Tuesday.

The operation, approved by President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 25, focuses on degrading Russia's military-industrial capabilities and logistics networks. The SBU indicated that among the targeted assets were military-industrial enterprises, airbases, air defense systems, command posts, Russian Navy ships, and sanctioned tankers associated with the so-called "shadow fleet." Additionally, key transport and military logistics infrastructure within Russia was hit.

Focus on Fuel and Energy Infrastructure

A significant component of the campaign involved systematic attacks on Russian fuel and energy infrastructure. Over 40 days, the SBU targeted 14 oil refineries, numerous oil storage bases, tank farms, pumping stations, oil terminals, and even an offshore oil drilling platform. Sanctioned tankers such as Blue, Louise 1, Banda, and Avero, as well as two sanctioned cargo vessels, were also among the struck targets.

"The 40-day campaign was aimed at simultaneously weakening the key elements of the Russian war machine," the SBU stated, emphasizing that efforts to reduce Russia's military-economic potential will continue.

According to SBU data, the operation resulted in the destruction of more than 21,000 units of military equipment and infrastructure, and the deaths of nearly 5,000 Russian servicemen.

President Zelensky has approved further operations coordinated with acting SBU chief Major General Oleksandr Poklad. The campaign began after Zelensky announced an "operation to pressure the aggressor state to cease the war" on June 25, following his pledge to create conditions forcing Russia to choose peace.

Market participants will be closely monitoring developments in this ongoing campaign, given its potential to influence Russian military logistics, energy supplies, and broader regional security dynamics that can affect commodity markets and geopolitical risk premiums.
