Russian Attacks Cause Multiple Casualties and Infrastructure Damage Across Ukraine on August 8
Russian forces launched intense strikes in several Ukrainian regions, resulting in at least four deaths and multiple injuries amid continued hostilities.

Fatalities and Injuries Reported in Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv Regions
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, two people were killed and two others wounded during more than 40 attacks involving drones, artillery, and aerial bombs, according to Alexander Ganja, head of the regional military administration. The strikes damaged medical facilities, administrative buildings, a retail store, residential houses, and destroyed a bus and a truck.
The city of Pavlohrad faced particularly intense shelling, where nine people were injured, including four children aged from three months to six years. Medical personnel provided necessary care, and two adults were hospitalized, one of whom, a 58-year-old woman, remains in serious condition.
Kharkiv region authorities confirmed the deaths of two men: a 68-year-old killed by an FPV drone strike in Kupiansk district, and a 51-year-old who died from a UAV strike in Vasylivka, Chuhuiv district. Additional drone strikes targeted a cemetery in the Kyiv district of Kharkiv, damaging graves and a gas pipeline without causing casualties.
In the town of Izium, a Russian guided aerial bomb wounded five civilians and damaged four apartment buildings and ten vehicles. Victims include an 18-year-old man, two middle-aged men, and two elderly women, receiving various degrees of injury.
Railway Targeted and Emergency Response in Sumy Region
Russian drones attacked a train locomotive on the Sumy-Kyiv route in the Sumy region. Passengers and crew were safely evacuated, and although one carriage was damaged, no injuries were reported. Firefighters faced repeated interruptions during blaze control due to the threat of renewed attacks. Regional authorities confirmed timely evacuation of civilians to shelters until the threat passed.
"More than 40 enemy attacks involved drones, artillery, and aerial bombs across four districts, damaging key infrastructure and vehicles," stated Alexander Ganja.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian strikes persisted into the night of August 9, coming from eastern and northern directions, underscoring the ongoing intensity of hostilities on multiple fronts.
These continued attacks illustrate the severe human and material toll endured by Ukraine amid sustained military aggression, with emergency services and medical teams actively responding to evolving threats.
