In the latest escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, Russian forces launched drone attacks overnight on Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, resulting in damaged residential properties and several injuries. Concurrently, a missile strike targeted a food industry facility in the city of Dnipro, raising concerns about supply chain disruptions.
Drone Strikes in Kharkiv Cause Civilian Injuries and Property Damage
Overnight on July 12, Russian military forces deployed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that struck three districts in Kharkiv: Shevchenkivskyi, Kyivskyi, and Saltivskyi. The local military administration reported that more than 20 residential buildings sustained damage following the attacks. Three civilians sought medical assistance, including a 16-year-old girl injured in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
Kharkiv’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, confirmed that a garage cooperative in the Kyivskyi district caught fire due to the drone strikes. The attacks have heightened concerns about civilian safety and infrastructure stability in this key eastern city, which serves as a significant industrial and economic hub.
"The drone attacks damaged over 20 homes and caused injuries to three people, including a teenager," said Kharkiv city officials.
Missile Strike in Dnipro Targets Food Industry, No Casualties Reported
Separately, Russian forces conducted a missile strike on a food industry enterprise in Dnipro. According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Alexander Ganja, preliminary reports indicate no casualties from the attack. However, the impact raises concerns about disruptions to food production and supply in the region.
Broader Military Actions Affect Multiple Ukrainian Regions
Throughout the night, Ukrainian Air Force units reported multiple launches of drones and guided aviation bombs targeting regions including Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Poltava, and Odesa. On July 11, Russian forces launched a combined missile attack using six Iskander-M and S-400 ballistic missiles, four Kh-59/69 cruise missiles, two Kh-31 anti-radar missiles, and 121 drones across Ukraine.
Kiev was among the areas hit by ballistic missile strikes, resulting in 12 injuries. In Kharkiv, drones targeted civilian enterprises, causing injuries. Additionally, on July 11, an early morning missile strike on Odesa killed two civilians, while an afternoon bombing in Sumy resulted in five deaths and 30 injuries. In Zaporizhzhia, four people were wounded during strikes involving Russian guided aviation bombs, with casualty figures still being confirmed.
