Russia Launches Coordinated Missile and Drone Attacks on Multiple Ukrainian Cities
Missile strikes and drone incursions hit Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and other regions, resulting in casualties and significant damage.
In the early hours of July 30, Russian forces launched a series of missile and drone attacks across multiple Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Kriyvyi Rih, causing casualties and widespread damage.
Widespread Strikes Target Urban and Industrial Areas
In Kyiv, missile debris caused fires in several districts, with one confirmed fatality reported by city officials. Mayor Vitaliy Klychko and the Kyiv City Military Administration confirmed the attacks and the resulting damage.
Western Ukraine also experienced significant impacts. In Lviv, air defense systems engaged hostile targets as explosions were heard throughout the city. Two residential high-rise buildings sustained damage, and emergency responders are actively working on site, according to Mayor Andriy Sadovyi and the head of the Lviv City Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.
Kharkiv witnessed a drone strike in the industrial zone of the Novobavarskyi district, confirmed by Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Details regarding damage or casualties have not been disclosed.
Additional explosions were reported in various regions, including Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kriyvyi Rih, Sumy, and the Ivano-Frankivsk area, as Ukrainian Air Force channels warned of numerous ballistic and cruise missile launches, alongside drone and guided bomb deployments targeting multiple cities.
"The emergency rescue operation is ongoing with debris removal in progress. Unfortunately, the casualty count may rise," stated Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kriyvyi Rih city defense council, following a missile strike on a private home.
In the suburb of Radushne near Kriyvyi Rih, a ballistic "Iskander-M" missile struck a private residence, killing six members of a large family, including children aged 5 and 12. Eight others were wounded, including boys aged 6 and 15, as reported by Oleksandr Vilkul.
Ukraine Calls for Enhanced Air Defense Support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier warned of a high likelihood of a massive Russian airstrike on July 30, following a briefing from Armed Forces Commander Anatoliy Kryvonozhko, who indicated that Russian forces had prepared for this attack for several days.
President Zelensky emphasized the critical importance of international partners' readiness to supply air defense missiles, particularly those compatible with the Patriot missile defense system. He highlighted that the protection of Ukrainian lives hinges on the availability of such support, specifically addressing the United States and allied nations.
These coordinated strikes demonstrate an intensification of Russian military tactics, combining ballistic missiles, drones, and guided bombs aimed at crippling both civilian and industrial infrastructure across Ukraine.
