Multiple Wildberries Warehouses Targeted in Coordinated Attacks Across Russia and Crimea

In a series of coordinated attacks during the night of July 24, logistics warehouses operated by Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries sustained significant damage in multiple locations, including the Saint Petersburg metropolitan area, Tver, and the annexed Crimean Peninsula. The assaults have led to operational halts, fires, and evacuations, escalating tensions amid ongoing geopolitical conflict.

Widespread Disruption Across Key Logistics Hubs

According to analysis of open-source intelligence and eyewitness footage circulating on social media, a major warehouse near Saint Petersburg, located in the village of Novosaratovka in the Vsevolozhsky District of the Leningrad Region, was targeted and caught fire. This facility is considered a critical logistics node serving the city, positioned just outside its administrative boundary.

Subsequent reports indicated at least two separate fire outbreaks within Saint Petersburg’s vicinity, visible through plume of thick black smoke seen across the city skyline. In response, Wildberries officially announced a temporary suspension of operations at its logistics complexes in the Shushary and Utkina Zavod districts of Saint Petersburg, with no immediate timeline provided for resumption.

Further strikes were reported at Wildberries hubs in the city of Tver and in Simferopol, Crimea. In Simferopol, the warehouse sorting center was evacuated following the attack to comply with safety protocols. Fires reportedly broke out at these sites as well, compounding logistical challenges for the company.

Additional unverified reports emerged of an attack on an electrical substation in Sudak, Crimea, resulting in power outages and disruptions to water supply in several districts. Independent confirmation of these claims has yet to be obtained.

Context and Impact on Wildberries’ Logistics Network

These recent attacks follow a series of earlier strikes against Wildberries facilities in Russia, including warehouses in Elektrostal near Moscow, Kotovsk in Tambov Region, Krasnodar, and Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai. The cumulative damage to Wildberries’ infrastructure now reportedly affects roughly 10% of the company’s total logistics capacity, equivalent to over 550,000 square meters of warehouse space.

On July 18, two warehouses were hit simultaneously in Kotovsk and Elektrostal, resulting in eight fatalities and around 50 injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated these attacks were retaliatory measures responding to Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. He further alleged that Wildberries’ logistics centers were instrumental in supplying components used in the manufacture of drones and navigation equipment subject to international sanctions.

Despite the gravity of the attacks, no official comments have been issued by regional governors of Leningrad, Saint Petersburg, or Tver, nor by the Moscow-appointed mayor of Simferopol at the time of reporting.

The ongoing targeting of key logistics assets underscores the vulnerability of supply chain nodes amid the conflict and signals potential further disruptions in the retail and e-commerce sectors across affected regions.
