During nighttime drone attacks on Kharkiv and Odessa, unmanned aerial vehicles struck several residential buildings, causing structural damage and fires, local authorities reported. The attacks also affected the town of Bohodukhiv. In total, seven people were injured as a result of the incidents.

Details of the Drone Attacks and Their Impact

On the night of June 1, drone strikes targeted high-rise residential buildings in Odessa and Kharkiv. Sergey Lysak, head of the Odessa military administration, confirmed that a Russian drone hit a nine-story residential building in Odessa. The strike partially destroyed the first and second floors, resulting in a fire, while the building's facade and balconies were also damaged.

In addition to the residential building damage, a fire broke out in a two-story non-residential building and two single-story structures. Four residents of Odessa sustained injuries during these attacks.

In Kharkiv, Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, reported that a five-story residential building was damaged along with several garages and vehicles nearby, with fires igniting as a result. Further drone strikes affected two additional districts in Kharkiv, damaging at least three private homes, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Another drone strike was confirmed in the nearby town of Bohodukhiv.

Among those injured were a 34-year-old woman from Kharkiv and a 39-year-old woman from Bohodukhiv. Three people were reported injured in the Kharkiv region from these attacks.

“Drone strikes have inflicted damage on multiple residential sites, highlighting the ongoing threat to civilian infrastructure,” local officials stated.

Broader Context of Drone Usage in Recent Attacks

On the evening of May 30 and into the early hours of May 31, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched an extensive drone assault on Ukrainian territory, deploying 229 drones. The Ukrainian Air Forces reported impacts from 14 attack drones across 11 locations, with several drones being intercepted and their debris falling in five areas.

Among the casualties of these strikes was a 58-year-old man killed in an attack on an industrial facility in the Koriukivka district of Chernihiv Oblast. The strike also caused a fire at a nearby parking area, destroying seven vehicles.

These incidents underline the increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the ongoing conflict, posing risks to both civilian populations and critical infrastructure across multiple Ukrainian regions.
