Russian Strikes on Ukrainian Regions Result in Four Dead and 25 Injured
Russian forces conducted multiple aerial and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, causing casualties and infrastructure damage.

On July 5, Russian military forces launched a series of attacks across multiple regions in Ukraine, targeting cities with air bombs, missiles, and drones, according to regional authorities. The strikes resulted in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to 25 others.
Details of the Attacks and Impact
The attacks occurred throughout the day and into the evening, affecting key areas including Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia. Regional officials confirmed strikes involving drones and missile fire in Kharkiv, Kherson, Izium, Bohodukhiv, and Chernihiv regions.
In Zaporizhzhia, two air-dropped bombs caused significant destruction. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that private houses were destroyed, and 35 apartments in a multi-story building were damaged. The strike killed one person and injured 13 others, including a 14-year-old teenager and an 89-year-old woman who suffered concussions and shrapnel wounds. The threat of drone attacks persisted in the region until at least 20:58 local time.
Early in the morning, two people were injured during an attack in Kherson. One of the wounded, a 44-year-old man, sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to his arm.
In Chernihiv, a daytime strike destroyed a sorting center of a national postal service, further disrupting regional logistics and communications.
Bohodukhiv in the Kharkiv region experienced lethal consequences with two fatalities and two injuries reported. In Izium, a missile strike claimed one life and injured three women, all of whom required hospitalization. Additionally, a gas station building was destroyed, and five vehicles were damaged.
Kharkiv was hit twice during the day: a drone attack targeted a gas station in the morning, followed by another strike later. Four individuals—three women and one man—sustained blast wounds, including an 18-year-old woman; all were hospitalized.
"The coordinated attacks demonstrate a continued threat to civilian infrastructure and population centers," said a regional official.
Warnings and Strategic Context
On the evening of July 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, citing intelligence reports, warned of a potential new large-scale offensive by Russian forces. This warning came shortly after Ukraine endured one of its most massive attacks since the conflict began, with 31 fatalities and 102 injuries reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine as of July 4.
Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, issued a caution regarding potential drone and missile strikes targeting gas stations, not only in Sumy but also in other regions. He urged civilians to avoid gas stations unless absolutely necessary to minimize casualties and infrastructure damage.
These events underscore ongoing volatility in Ukraine’s eastern and southern regions, with persistent threats to civilian areas and strategic infrastructure amid the broader conflict.
