Russian Strikes Across Ukraine Kill at Least 20, Damage Infrastructure
Attacks across several Ukrainian cities killed civilians and damaged railway, warehouse, commercial and industrial sites.

Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least 20 people and damaged transport, warehouse, industrial and commercial infrastructure on Thursday, October 29, creating a fresh security risk for markets monitoring the country’s logistics networks and economic assets.
In central Chernihiv, two 15-year-old girls were killed when a Russian strike used a Banderol, or S8000, munition, described as a compact hybrid of a cruise missile and a jet-powered attack drone. At least 25 people were injured, including four children, according to regional military administration head Viacheslav Chaus.
The injured children were a 10-month-old girl, a 10-year-old girl and two boys aged 16 and 17. Eight people remained in hospitals, while others received treatment at the scene or were being treated as outpatients.
“Two children — a brother and sister — are in serious condition. A total of eight people are now in hospitals,” Chaus wrote on Telegram.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said the strike hit an ordinary street, damaging homes, shops and vehicles, and had “no military purpose.” Chernihiv declared October 30 a day of mourning.
Railway Station and Urban Infrastructure Hit
In Dnipro, a drone strike on the railway station on October 29 killed at least 14 people and injured another 14. The attack placed railway infrastructure at the center of the latest wave of strikes, an area closely watched because of its role in passenger movement and domestic logistics.
Three residents were killed in Kremenchuk during a Russian attack the same day, according to Ukraine’s emergency service. A further 25 people were injured.
In Zaporizhzhia, two men aged 41 and 66 were injured and received medical assistance. Emergency officials said four passenger cars and an open area caught fire after the strikes. A warehouse building, four cars and four buses were also damaged.
Later on October 29, a Russian missile struck Kharkiv’s Slobidskyi district, the emergency service reported. Fires broke out in a production building and on adjacent grounds, covering a combined area of 400 square metres. At another location, remnants of various materials burned across 80 square metres, while two trucks were damaged.
Officials did not specify why the blast caused the fire or what had been stored in the production building. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said on Telegram that the Slobidskyi district was struck with a Banderol munition.
Kyiv Warehouses Damaged in Ballistic Missile Attack
Kyiv was targeted with a Russian ballistic missile on the evening of October 29, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He said warehouse buildings were hit in the Darnytskyi district, causing a fire.
In the Dniprovskyi district, missile debris burned in the courtyard of a residential complex. The blast wave shattered windows in one residential building, while windows and vehicles were damaged at another address. Klitschko later said a shop building near the residential complex was partially destroyed.
The Kyiv City Military Administration said one person was killed in the Russian attack.
The strikes affected a broad cross-section of physical assets, including a railway station, warehouses, a production facility, trucks, buses, passenger vehicles, shops and residential buildings. The source provided no figures for trading volumes, asset prices, commodity moves or other immediate market reactions.
Warnings of Further Ballistic Strikes
Earlier on October 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily address that intelligence indicated Russia was preparing to attack Ukraine again with ballistic missiles. His warning preceded the reported evening strike on Kyiv.
Russia’s Defence Ministry gave a separate account of its operations on October 29. In an evening Telegram statement, it said Russian forces had used drones to strike Ukrainian port infrastructure and vessels that it alleged were operating in the interests of Ukraine’s armed forces.
The ministry also said Russian forces struck a temporary Ukrainian military deployment point in the Kharkiv direction and identified and destroyed enemy FPV-drone control points in the Dnipropetrovsk direction.
The casualty reports and infrastructure damage add to the operational risks surrounding Ukrainian transport, storage and industrial activity. The attacks occurred across Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Kyiv, extending the impact beyond a single region and involving both drones and missiles.
Authorities continued to assess damage and treat the injured, with several people remaining hospitalized and two children in serious condition following the Chernihiv strike.
