Drone Strikes Hit Tula Region and Moscow Suburb, Causing Casualties and Industrial Damage
Three civilians killed in Tula after drone attacks; industrial facility fire reported in Reutov amid ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
On the night of June 14-15, multiple regions in Russia, including the Tula region and the Moscow suburb of Reutov, experienced drone attacks attributed to Ukrainian forces, resulting in casualties and damage to civilian and industrial infrastructure.
Casualties and Damage in Tula Region
The governor of Tula region, Dmitry Milyaev, reported that the drone assault targeted residential areas in several villages including Yamny, Maslovo, Mikhalkovo, and Inshinsky. Several private homes and commercial properties sustained damage during the nighttime attack.
Tragically, three civilians lost their lives as a result of the strikes, and three others were injured, among them a one-year-old child. All those injured have received medical assistance.
Drone Impact and Fire in Reutov Industrial Zone
In Reutov, a suburb located near Moscow, a fire broke out in an industrial zone following a drone strike. Initially, reports from a Ukrainian monitoring channel cited explosions near the defense enterprise NPO Mashinostroeniya, a military-industrial complex.
However, subsequent clarifications indicated that the drone had crashed on the premises of Mirital, a manufacturer specializing in deep-frozen food products. This plant is situated approximately 700 meters from the military facility, highlighting the proximity of civilian infrastructure to defense enterprises.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that four drones were intercepted and neutralized during the night in the region.
Continued Hostilities Mark Both Sides
The same night, Russian forces launched extensive strikes across Ukraine, targeting cities including Kharkiv and Kyiv. In Kharkiv, at least five people, including rescuers responding to earlier attacks, were killed in subsequent strikes.
In Kyiv, approximately 140,000 electricity subscribers lost power following drone attacks. Several residential buildings were directly hit, resulting in at least four fatalities and 23 injuries, according to Kyiv's military administration head Timur Tkachenko.
The Russian assault also struck the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Eastern Slavic Christianity's most venerable landmarks. A significant fire broke out on the roof of the Assumption Cathedral, as reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
"The attacks underscore the ongoing volatility and risks to both civilian and strategic locations amid the broader Russia-Ukraine conflict," analysts note.
These events highlight the continued escalation of hostilities, with significant impact on civilian populations and critical infrastructure on both sides of the conflict.
